Merge GPX files

Join several GPX tracks into a single file – for example the stages of a long-distance trail, an interrupted Garmin recording or the way up and the way down.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to merge GPX files

  1. Drop two or more files onto the box above or choose them. Besides GPX, KML, FIT, TCX and GeoJSON work too.
  2. Use the arrows to put the files in the right order – or sort them by start time automatically.
  3. Choose how to merge: as one continuous track, as a track with segments or as separate tracks in one file.
  4. Download the result as GPX – or straight away as a FIT course for your Garmin.

Which option should I choose?

OptionResultBest for
One continuous trackAll points one after another in one segmentNavigation on a Garmin, importing into Komoot or Strava
Track with segmentsOne track, each file its own segmentRecordings with gaps (e.g. a train ride in between)
Separate tracksEach file stays its own trackMulti-day tours, collecting stages in one file

Waypoints of all files are kept. Duplicate points at the joins are removed automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. GPX-Werkstatt processes everything directly in your browser. Your files never leave your device.

How many files can I merge?

As many as you like. The only limit is your device’s memory – several hundred tracks are no problem.

Are timestamps and elevations kept?

Yes, all elevation and time data stays unchanged. To remove timestamps, use the GPX editor afterwards.
