Open GPX files on your phone

Got a GPX file by e-mail, WhatsApp or download? Here is how to open it on iPhone and Android – even without an extra app.

Without an app: in the browser

  1. Save the GPX on your phone.
  2. Open gpxwerkstatt.at in your browser.
  3. Tap “Choose file” and pick the GPX.
  4. You see the track, elevation profile, distance, elevation gain and hiking time.

Where are downloaded GPX files?

  • iPhone: Files app → “On My iPhone” → “Downloads” or iCloud Drive → “Downloads”.
  • Android: Files app → “Download” folder.
