Import & export GPX in Komoot

Komoot is one of the most popular route-planning apps in the German-speaking world. Here is how to get GPX files in – and your tours back out.

Import GPX into Komoot

  1. Open komoot.com on a computer and sign in.
  2. Open the route planner.
  3. Use the GPX import function and upload the file.
  4. Save it as a planned tour (or a completed one).
  5. It appears in the app under “Profile” → “Tours”.

Komoot may snap imported tracks to its own path network – check the result.

Export GPX from Komoot

On a tour page, the tour menu offers “Download GPX file”. Whether downloads are available depends on your account and unlocked regions; Komoot’s conditions have changed several times since the 2025 takeover by Bending Spoons.

Free alternative

Plan routes for free in your browser with Create GPX – routing along OpenStreetMap trails, elevation profile, hiking time and GPX/FIT download, without an account.
