Create GPX – plan a route

Click points on the map and GPX-Werkstatt calculates the route along hiking trails, forest roads or cycle paths – with elevation profile, elevation gain and hiking time. Then save it as GPX for Komoot, Garmin & co.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to create a GPX file

  1. Search for your starting point or zoom in on the map. The marked hiking trails overlay helps with planning.
  2. Choose the routing: hiking, mountain hiking, bicycle, road bike, mountain bike, gravel – or straight line.
  3. Tap the map to set the start and further points. The route follows the trails automatically.
  4. Drag points to move them, click them to delete, or close the loop with “Back to start”.
  5. Name your tour and download it as GPX, as a FIT course for Garmin or as KML.

Where do the routes come from?

Routing is done by BRouter, an open-source route planner based on OpenStreetMap. Only the clicked coordinates are sent to brouter.de. Straight-line sections get their elevations from a digital terrain model.
